Hydra is situated across the southeast shore of Argolida. Approximately in the middle of the northern side of the island is the traditional settlement of Hydra, constructed amphitheatrically around the port. The unique architecture, the imposing mansion houses – sign of the glorious naval past - as well as the plain residences with the live colors at the forefronts and the frames and yards decorated with fragrant flowers, closed with tall stone fences, the small roads, the tile alleys and the numerous churches and monasteries, render the island enchanting. Accessibility to Hydra is possible only by sea, (about three hours from Piraeus), while the circulation of vehicles is not allowed. Visit the mansion houses of Kountourioti, Boudouri, Tobasi (where a part of the school of art is accommodated) Miaoulis, Voulgari, Kriesi, Tsomadus (where the School of Captains of the Commercial Navy is).
